The University of Kentucky football hosted the Skyhawks of UT Martin and let’s just say it started very well for the wildcats.

The cats decided to defer to the second half and kicked to start the game. With the ball on the UTM 35, the first snap of the game flies over John Bachus’ (UTM QB) head and into the end zone.

He tried to salvage the botched snap, but couldn’t get the ball back to the line of scrimmage and is called for intentional grounding. Since he was in the end zone, a safety was called and UK was awarded 2 points.

With the cats offense on their first drive, they go 3 and out and are forced to punt the ball.

The troubles for the skyhawks don’t stop. After getting a first down on their second drive, the snap flies over Bachus’ head once again and into the end zone. However, instead of kicking the ball out of bounds or doing what he did earlier to only give up 2-points, he attempts to pick up the ball, but fails. This allows Yusuf Corker (UK S) to fall on the ball and get the touchdown. Putting the cats up 9-0.

The skyhawks receive the ball back after the defensive touchdown and end up going 3 and out on their third drive.

With UK starting their second drive of the game on their own 37, it didn’t take long to make the score 16-0. Lynn Bowden (UK WR) hands the ball to Asim Rose (UK RB) and he rushes for a 63 yard touchdown.

All of this happening with a little over 10 minutes left in the first quarter.

The second quarter begins with UK and UTM exchanging drives with nothing to show for them. Until the cats second attempt in the second quarter. With Bowden’s 58 yard rush, it helps set up his own 2-yard rush later on in the drive for a touchdown making the score 22-0.

The cats would yet again score later in the quarter to take the skyhawks into halftime with a 29-0 score.

UTM wont get their first points on the board until the beginning of the fourth quarter, making the score 36-7.

The cats would take the victory over the skyhawks 50-7, thus making UK bowl eligible.

UK takes on rival Louisville at Kroger field on 11/30 at noon. Game can be watched on the SECNetwork.
