Kentucky gal and Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence takes home a best actress Golden Globe tonight for her role in the heavily Oscar-nominated Silver Linings Playbook.
(We cheered wildly for her Winter’s Bone nomination. She wuz robbed.)
In accepting tonight’s award, she was refreshingly age-appropriate in her comments:
“What does this say? I beat Meryl. [Nervous chuckle.] Jokes aside, I am so honored to be a part of a film like this. David [O. Russell], thank you for believing in me, and giving me a chance. There’s a reason why so many actors have thanked you from this stage.”
(Russell famously clashed with another Kentucky actor, George Clooney, who vocally disapproved of the way he ran a set and crew.)
“You are simply the best. Bradley [Cooper], you’re incredible, and you made me better every single day. Harvey [Weinstein], thank you for killing whoever you had to kill to get me up here today. And the entire cast of this movie…I want to thank my family. Mom, people said you were crazy to believe in me and you did anyway. Dad, you taught me to laugh and that has been my salvation. And I want to thank my brothers, Ben and Blaine, I wouldn’t be who I am today without you being mean to me, but then really supportive and loving constantly… Thank you.”
