The Blue Grass Trust’s deTour of the First African Baptist Church will be held on Wednesday, August 7, at 5:30 pm. Since the First African Foundation is trying to buy this building, donations will be solicited. Yvonne Giles will lead the tour, which is free and open to the public, to teach early African-American history and community in Lexington. Lexington’s First African Baptist Church is located on the corner of Short Street and Deweese Street. The Jax restaurant at 101 W. Short St. will extend their Be Social Happy Hour menu to 8 pm on August 7 for those taking the First African Baptist tour for a social AfterHour and discussion.
