Theatre: Don Juan on Trial, Natasha’s

From Sunday, December 16th through Wednesday, December 19th, 2012, Balagula Theatre will be presenting Don Juan on Trial at Lexington, Kentucky’s Natasha’s Bistro and Bar at 8 pm nightly.
The action takes place one night in a large manor-house in the middle of nowhere on the moors of Normandy. Don Juan is going to be tried by five women. They are all his former lovers and victims and they all want him to marry his latest conquest. Oddly enough, Don Juan agrees. Has life finally caught up with him?
This production takes an intriguing look into the legend of Don Juan that touches on gender equality and tolerance. Written in 1991, “Don Juan on Trial” is the first play by one of the most notable contemporary French dramatists, novelists, and fiction writers whose plays have since been translated into forty languages and staged in over fifty countries all over the world. In 2001 Schmitt was awarded the “Grand Prix du Theatre de l’Academie Francaise. This is the Kentucky Premiere of “Don Juan on Trial.”
