Habitat for Humanity’s Shamrock Shuffle 3K was held this past weekend. How long has this race been going on? How much money was raised? What about the amount of participants?
The St. Patrick’s Day Celebration began with the 13th Annual Shamrock Shuffle 3K at 8 am. The race started near the Lexington Center and ended by the new courthouse. It was a cold morning, but that didn’t deter runners from having fun and dressing up.
In the end, 1,934 adults and kids registered for the race. That number does not include the countless dogs that attended with their owners. Also, over $60,000 was raised to benefit Lexington’s Habitat for Humanity in creating affordable housing in Lexington.
After the race concluded the most adorable competition took place, the Parade of Dogs. Many owners dressed their puppies in St. Patrick themed outfits for a prize and the title of best dressed. It was a stiff competition because all looked amazing and so cute, but a winner had to be crowned. Once the winner was announced, the dogs and owners were led by bag pipes and paraded around the grounds in front of the courthouse for all to see.
