The Lexington Public Library will show a screening of Peaceable Kingdom (appropriate for 13 and up).
Holler Poets switches to a Tuesday this month.
Holler 56 features the debuts of John James, Academy of American Poets Prize winner and Bellarmine professor and J. Kates, poet, literary translator and the president and co-director of Zephyr Press (his chapbook Metes and Bounds was published by Lexington’s Accents Publishing). Scott Whiddon, the front man for Lexington rock band Palisades, will provide the music. Open mic starts at 8pm, signups begin at 7pm.

The Morlan Gallery at Transylvania University presents The Thirteen, a visual art exhibit and live musical/spoken word performance paying homage to thirteen black women and girls who were lynched or otherwise violently murdered in Kentucky. The Thirteen production is in the Carrick Theater, located in the Mitchell Fine Arts Center at Transy. The Thirteen will feature performances by an ensemble of Kentucky musicians and vocalists paired with spoken word poetry by Bianca Spriggs. Musicians include: Willie Eames, David Farris, Jami Shumake-Young, Michelle Hollis, Paul Michael Brown, Caleb Ritchie, Sheisty Khrist, JustMe, Heather, Victoria Heim, Jeremiah Muwanga, The Jarflies (Mason Colby & Art Mize), Marcus Wilkerson.
