Producers and film crew for Travel Channel’s popular series Food Paradise were on hand today at Stella’s Kentucky Deli to feature the restaurant for an upcoming episode.
Stella’s is a longtime staple of downtown Lexington’s restaurant scene and one of the original restaurants to kick off downtown’s long-running Jefferson Street Renaissance. The old yellow Victorian-turned-restaurant features a menu that focuses on local food and supporting the local economy in a way that comes across home cooked.
Tucked away on Jefferson Street, Stella’s was packed with customers crowding the counter and trying to find a table midday as production crew captured the authenticity and the festive bacon-scented atmosphere. (Regulars know you won’t be seated until your entire party has arrived.)
Known mostly for highlighting diners, bars and breakfast spots, Food Paradise travels the country to showcase both popular and unknown restaurants that travelers should try out.
Stella’s is a classic downtown diner laid out shotgun shack style, known for locally-sourced soups, sandwiches and desserts.
Air date is Sunday, June 17 at 8 pm.
