| The Great American Pie Contest will be held noon Monday, July 3 at the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion in Cheapside Park.
Applications are available on the DLC’s website at downtownlex. com. The deadline to apply for the contest is Friday, June 30. Awards will be presented in two categories – made from scratch and semi-homemade. Awards will include first, second and third place in each category. Additionally, a special award of “prettiest pie” will also be presented. “We’re really excited that the pie contest falls on a Monday this year, giving bakers the weekend to work on their pies,” said Laura Farnsworth, senior event coordinator with the Downtown Lexington Corporation. After the judging, slices of pie, along with Sav’s Chill ice cream, will be available for free at the Ice Cream Social. This event, held in conjunction with the pie contest, starts at noon and will last until both the pie and ice cream are gone. |
