Surprising precisely no one, Harlan County Kentucky native, Jordan Smith won season nine of The Voice.
Smith, who represented Team Adam, was a crowd and critic favorite on the show, eliciting standing ovations with his soulful performances of songs as varied as Sia’s “Chandelier” and Queen’s “Somebody to Love.”
Results were official Tuesday night. Smith was joined on stage by Emily Ann Roberts of Knoxville and Barrett Baber of Fayetteville, Arkansas (both on four-peat winner Blake Shelton’s team) and Jeffry Austin of Chicago (on Team Gwen).
Smith was an early favorite of the judges, even way back in the first round after his powerful performance of “Chandelier.” Smith has been top of the iTunes charts multiple times now, having beaten out artist Adele to claim the top spot with his performance of “Somebody to Love”.
Smith is a native of Harlan County and is currently a senior at Lee University.
