The Chamber Music Festival will take place at the Fasig-Tipton Pavillion from August 21st to August 24th. The festival brings together a quintet of nationally recognized musicians for three formal concerts.
Kenny Owens & Group Therapy play at Cheapside Park for Thursday Night Live at 5 pm.
Gary Owen performs at Comedy Off Broadway from August 21st to August 24th. Shows start at 7:15 pm each night with additional shows on Friday and Saturday at 9:45 pm.
FRIDAY Aug 22, 2014
As a part of Phoenix Fridays, Coralee & The Townies and Ben Sollee play at Phoenix Park. The concert begins at 5 pm.
There will be theatre performances of The Girl Project at the Downtown Arts Center at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. The Girl Project is meant to empower teenage girls to challenge conventional representations of females in the modern media.
The professional premiere of The Mothers of Ludlow will feature at the Lexington Opera House, at 7:30 pm, both Friday and Saturday.
Katherine Mooney signs Race Horse Men: How Slavery and Freedom Were Made at the Racetrack at Morris Book Shop at 5:30 pm
Zack Brock & Friends play at Moondance Amphitheater at 7 pm as a part of the Summer Nights in Suburbia concert series.
SATURDAY Aug 23, 2014
The Uptown Hoedown + 23 String Band CD Release at Al’s Bar starts at 5 pm and continues all the way up until 11. This block party style shindig will include food and drinks, as well as music by more than half a dozen artists. The party will also celebrate the release of the new Gideon’s Rifle album.
Charlie Daniels Band plays at the Frankfort Convention Center, along with Borrowed Blue and Lexington’s very own Sundy Best, at 6 pm.
The 2014 Chevy Chase Street Fair will take place on the 800 Block of Euclid Avenue, starting at 4 pm and ending at 10. The fair will celebrate the area’s eating, drinking, and shopping venues.
The American Cancer Society’s First Annual Belles & Beaus Ball at the Fasig-Tipton takes place at 6 pm.

The DiMartino-Osland Jazz Orchestra plays at Ecton Park at 7 pm. Big Band & Jazz, one of Lexington’s longest running series, features jazz and big band music weekly. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets for seating.
5 String Theory play at the Southland Jamboree at 7 pm.

This is Spinal Tap will feature at the Kentucky Theatre at 1:30 pm and 7:15 pm, a part of the Summer Classic Movies series.
Red Barn Radio: Hannah Aldridge plays at ArtsPlace at 8 pm.
There will be a performance of Jeff Stetson’s one-act play, “The Meeting,” at the Farish Theatre at 7 pm. “The Meeting” depicts a fictitious conversation between Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
