The Lexington food-scene is about to get even better.
This week, Mark Jensen and his crew from the well loved Fork in the Road Mobile Galley hit their $20,000 goal on Kickstarter for a new restaurant they plan to open in Lexington’s burgeoning Distillery District.
The new restaurant, Middle Fork Kitchen Bar, will feature a custom-made Argentinian wood-fired grill where Jensen plans to continue serving up the globally inspired food that has made him a favorite of those who frequent Lexington’s local breweries where he’s often been found.
Yet, even with his success record to date, Jensen’s new venture isn’t without its risks. The restaurant will be one of the first to venture into the Lexington Distillery District that—while constantly floated as the next “it” part of town—has yet to truly take off.
The money raised from the Kickstarter campaign, however, will help with the ambitious renovation and restoration plans for the new space at 1224 Manchester Street in the Pepper Distillery building. As plans currently stand, Middle Fork should be open by July 2014.
If you missed out on helping Middle Fork reach its first Kickstart goal of $20,000, you’re still in luck!
Jensen has announced a new “stretch goal” of becoming the top Kickstarter food campaign in the Commonwealth. The previous record is set at $23,525, while the “Kick Mark to the Creek” campaign is currently just topping $21,000 with two days remaining.
