Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2013: what’s open, what’s closed in Lexington KY?
Three Lexington Walgreens will remain open on their usual open 24-hours schedule on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (the one at the corner of Richmond Rd. and St. Ann, the one on Harrodsburg Road, and the Hamburg location.)
Trader Joe’s on Nicholasville Rd.will close at 6 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day. Whole Foods in Lexington Green will be open 7 am to 7 pm on Christmas Eve.
Kroger on Euclid will close at 5 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.
Fayette Mall
What time does the Mall close on Christmas Eve? Most Fayette Mall stores will be open 6 am to 6 pm on Christmas Eve, but select stores may have extended hours (call ahead). Fayette Mall will be closed on Wednesday, Christmas Day.
WalMart at Hamburg (2350 Grey Lag Way) will be open until 8 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.
The Lexington Public Library will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Most Lexington area banks will be closing early on Christmas Eve (call ahead), and will be closed on Christmas Day.
CHRISTMAS TRASH PICKUP IN LEXINGTON
Lexington residents will see no changes in their waste collection because of the holidays this year since Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Wednesdays, a day normally used for employee training and equipment maintenance. Residents are reminded to put their carts out after 4 p.m. the day before collection.
The Lexington Recycling Center will be closed on Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25 2013), and New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014). The city’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management facility will be closed Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013) Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25 2013), and New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2014).
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices will be closed on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013)Christmas Day (Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013), and New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014).
LEXTRAN
All Lextran routes will operate on a regular schedule on Christmas Eve and a reduced Sunday schedule on Christmas Day, 2013.

Movie Times for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Cinemark Woodhill will open on Christmas Day with regular schedules beginning at Noon.
TREECYCLE THIS: How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Lexington?
The division will begin picking up discarded live Christmas trees for those who receive city collection service starting on Thursday, Dec. 26. Trees will be picked up on your normal collection day and taken to the city’s composting facility where it will be converted into mulch. All decorations and wrappings must be removed from the tree.
Fayette County residents can recycle holiday lights and other electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions at the city’s Electronic Recycling Center at 1306 Versailles Road.
