What’s open, what’s closed on New Year’s Eve 2013 and New Year’s Day 2014 in Lexington, Kentucky?

All Lexington Public Library locations will be closed after 5 pm on New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2013) and will be closed all day on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 for New Year’s Day.

North Lime Coffee and Donuts is closed between Christmas and New Year’s for the Holiday (closed until January 2, 2014).

CD Central at 377 S. Limestone will close early on New Year’s Eve and will be closed on New Year’s Day, 2014.

University of Kentucky’s WT Young Library will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Explorium will be open on New Year’s Day 2014 with free admission.

McConnell Springs will host its annual first hike of the year on New Year’s Day 2014.

Collectibles Etc is open New Year’s Day.

New Year’s TRASH PICKUP IN LEXINGTON 

Lexington residents will see no changes in their waste collection because of the holidays this year since  New Year’s Day falls on a Wednesday, a day normally used for employee training and equipment maintenance. Residents are reminded to put their carts out after 4 p.m. the day before collection.

The Lexington Recycling Center will be closed on  New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014).  The city’s Electronic Recycling Center and the Haley Pike Waste Management facility will be closed New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1, 2014).

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices will be closed  New Year’s Day (Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014).

Lexington Fayette Urban County Council is on Winter Recess through January 13, 2014.

TREECYCLE THIS: How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Lexington? 

The division began picking up discarded live Christmas trees for those who receive city collection service starting on Thursday, Dec. 26. Trees will be picked up on your normal collection day and taken to the city’s composting facility where it will be converted into mulch. All decorations and wrappings must be removed from the tree.

Fayette County residents can recycle holiday lights and other electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions at the city’s Electronic Recycling Center at 1306 Versailles Road.
