“Madame Clerk” retires from LFUCG.
GTV3 fans might better know council clerk Susan Lamb better as “Madame Clerk,” as she is addressed by the Mayor and Urban County Council members in session. Tonight she called the roll for the last time, announcing in chambers that this is her last week at Lexington Fayette Urban County Government, after 27 and a half years.
Council members pointed out that transparency advocates had an ally in Lamb, who lobbied for the technology that would make council members’ votes available onscreen instantly for the viewing audience who watch Urban County work sessions and council meetings online and on GTV3. She also advocated for the livestream feed that broadcasts council proceedings live via internet.
At the April 25, 2013 council session, Lexington Mayor Jim Gray announced that Lamb had been named Clerk of the Year by the Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association.
As council clerk, Lamb reads all the ordinances and resolutions into the record.
She tearily passed the baton at tonight’s last council session before summer break, as council members thanked her for nearly three decades of service.
