The Shamrock Shuffle 3k begins at 8 am Saturday morning in downtown Lexington, benefiting Lexington’s Habitat for Humanity.
The St. Patrick’s Festival will begin with the Blessing of the Keg at 11 am at CentrePointe field/paddock. The keg will be blessed, tapped and shared with the crowd. Irish toasts will be given, marking the official start of the Lexington St. Patrick’s Day Festival’s free activities.
The festival will feature Irish musicians and dancers, Irish foods and goods, and activities for children and families. The festival will break at 1 p.m. for the 34th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will travel down Main Street starting at Midland Ave. and ending at Mill Street.
Live Music
Fifth on the Floor will play Saturday night, 9 pm to 1 am at the new JDI (corner of Cedar and Broadway), as part of their Live Music St. Patrick’s weekend of programming.

Irish Menus
On Saturday, Nick Ryan’s Saloon on Jefferson will serve corned beef and cabbage, lamb stew, a chocolate Stout cake, and will offer Irish trivia.
Cheapside will serve Irish food specials all week. St. Patrick’s Day is also the official opening of their patio for the season, rain or shine.
Doodles on Limestone will serve an Irish breakfast on Saturday and Sunday (bangers, rashers, etc).
Grey Goose on Jefferson will be serving corned beef and cabbage, a Guinness beef stew, and a Shepherd’s pie pizza.
Lynagh’s is serving corned beef and cabbage, reubens, soda bread, and Irish stew.
Marksbury Farm will be serving up Irish Bangers with white wine-braised cabbage and Marksbury’s all-beef hot dogs around the firepit.
Shamrock Bar and Grille will serve spotted dog and other traditional Irish fare at both locations.
On Sunday, March 17, Azur Restaurant “will explore the Scottish-Irish settlement in backcountry Appalachia during the colonial period. The settled areas of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky offer a rich culinary heritage which has become one of the most influential of all american regional cuisines.” They will serve a five-course Appalachian dinner, and add, “since we can’t follow tradition and serve moonshine, we have included a flight of three rye whiskeys.”
Great Harvest Bread will make Irish Soda Bread for St. Patrick’s weekend, made with Currants, Irish Whiskey, Buttermilk, Honey and Whole Wheat Flour (available both locations).
Good Foods hot bar will feature a St. Patrick’s buffet this weekend, with Irish food (shepherd’s lentil pie, corned beef and cabbage, stuffed cabbage rolls, and more).
Irish Beer and Drinking Options for St. Patrick’s 2013
At Lexington Beerworks, the Irish beers are $1 off all day long. Murphy’s Dry Irish Stout nitro, Schlafly Extra Irish Stout, Apocalypse Dry Irish Red (Louisville), Brooklyn Dry Irish Stout, Boulder Hazed & Infused, Ommegang Three Philosophers, Breckenridge 471 IIPA, Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, Duvel Belgian Single, Brooklyn Lager, Stone Old Guardian, Goose Island 312. (The food truck is JJ Renders BBQ.)
Lynagh’s will offer $1.00 green beer and drink specials all weekend.
West Sixth Brewing will be hosting their first St. Patrick’s Day Celebration beginning Saturday at Noon, “releasing a true St. Pats day beer” – their first Irish Red. Wear your best green.
