Newport’s historic music venue, the Southgate House (shuttered last year), will re-open in October with a new name and new location, and some returning staff from the original venue.
Owner Ross Raleigh says the nightclub will open in another historic property, the former Grace Method Episcopal Church, located at 111 E. Sixth Street Newport, KY, just off Newport’s main drag, Monmouth Street, in the city’s historic downtown business district.
It will be renamed The Southgate House Revival, will feature three stages under one roof, and plans are to resume independent music in a variety of genres up to seven nights a week.
