My film scholar colleague Fareed and I have decided to try out something new with our latest series of podcasts. We’re going to be taking a look back at the best films from one of the best cinematic years in American history – 2007. We’re starting off with a discussion of David Fincher’s unsung masterpiece Zodiac, about the serial killer that haunted San Francisco in the 1970s and remains at large to this day. If you haven’t already, we’d suggest taking a look at the film before listening – we get a little spoiler- y in the podcast proper. We’ll be following up in the coming weeks with looks at Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood, Joel and Ethan Coen’s No Country for Old Men, and possibly a few others. Feel free to join our movie discussion club in the comments – and if there’s a film that you’d like to hear us talk about, from 2007 or otherwise, let us know!
