Raj’s Pitchfork Interview with Bill Doss and The Olivia Tremor Control appears on page 14 of the 8.09.2012 issue of Ace.
On July 30, 2012 Bill Doss, The Olivia Tremor Control band member, died at the age of 43. Cause of death had not been announced at press. Doss was also the cofounder of The Elephant 6 Recording Company along with his childhood friend (and longtime Lexington, Kentucky resident) Robert Schneider of The Apples in Stereo, a band which also claimed Bill Doss as member. Schneider wrote on the band’s facebook page:
I am heartbroken by the loss of my life-long friend, collaborator and band-mate. My world will never be the same without the wonderful, funny, supremely creative Bill Doss. On behalf of my own family—as well as of The Apples in stereo and the Elephant 6 Collective—I would like to send out tender thoughts and our deepest sympathies to Bill’s wife and family
Last month, Ace’s Raj Ranade interviewed Bill Doss and The Olivia Tremor Control at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL. He writes,
“During our interview, Bill spoke with great enthusiasm about his plans for the future, and his death is a tremendous loss. Our condolences go out to his family and his bandmates.”
