New documentary, Bully, opens at Lexington’s Kentucky Theater followed by panel discussion.
BULLY opens at the Kentucky Theater, Friday, April 20, at 7:25 p.m. Following the screening, a panel discussion will be hosted to address issues of bullying, harassment, and violence affecting area youth.
The panel, coordinated by the Kentucky Theater and Lexington Fairness, will include Craig Cammack, Chairman of Lexington Fairness’ Project Speak Out bullying prevention program; Carol and Darryl Denham, who recently lost their son, Sam, to suicide in Northern Kentucky; LeTonia Jones, with the Kentucky Domestic Violence Association; Sandy Linville, President of PFLAG Lexington; Paulette Logsdon, Executive Director of KY-SPIN; and Donald Taylor, Executive Director of Louisville Youth Group and member of Kentucky Suicide Prevention Group.
One of the trailers for the movie was edited by Lexington native Ayser Salman. Salman, who is a Lexington Catholic graduate and a graduate of UK’s Media Arts & Studies program, has worked for the Weinstein brothers for years — both at Miramax and at the Weinstein Company. She is a former news producer at WLEX-18 TV and directed and edited the “WRFL: How It Went Down” short documentary. She is an original DJ at WRFL and staffed the first full shift ever on the air in Lexington in 1988.
