Paste Magazine, renowned independent music mag based in Georgia, announced today that it will suspend its print product, and “focus on its digital assets.” The Save Paste campaign last year reportedly raised over $275,000.
It seems appropriate to toast them with a link to their Ten Songs About Print Journalism, which Ace has relied on heavily whenever guesting on Trivial Thursdays on WRFL.
They recommend the A.P. Carter classic “Jimmie Brown, the Newsboy” by Flatt and Scruggs (1957) — known for the Carter Family original, along with an update by Flatlanders legend Jimmie Dale Gilmore. (Maybe you can get the ringtone.)
This is the link to Paste’s statement. As if the end of No Depression in print wasn’t bad enough (while some of us are still mourning the demise of Spy Magazine).
