Best Buy will be open until 6 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Costco will be open until 5 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Fayette Mall: What time does the Mall close on Christmas Eve? The Mall will be open on Christmas Eve from 6 am – 6 pm (individual store hours may vary). Fayette Mall will be closed on Thursday, Christmas Day.
Good Foods on Southland Drive will be open 8 am to 6 pm on Christmas Eve. Good Foods will be closed on Christmas Day. The hot bar buffet will be open 11 am to 5 pm on Christmas Eve. (For a list of Lexington restaurant options on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, click here.)
Krogers in Lexington will remain open until 5 pm on Christmas Eve and will close for Christmas Day. Kroger will open late the day after Christmas, opening at 8 am.
Liquor Barns in Lexington will be open from 10 am – 11 pm on Christmas Eve. They will be open 10 am – 8 pm on Christmas Day.
Meijer’s in Lexington will be open 10 am – 6 pm on Christmas Eve. They will be closed on Christmas Day.
Lexington area Target stores will close at 6 pm on Christmas Eve and will be closed on Christmas Day.
Trader Joe’s on Nicholasville Rd. will close early at 5 pm on Christmas Eve. It will be closed on Christmas Day.
Three Lexington Walgreens will remain open on their usual open 24-hours schedule on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (the one at the corner of Richmond Rd. and St. Ann, the one on Harrodsburg Road, and the Hamburg location.)
Whole Foods in Lexington Green will be open on Christmas Eve until 4 pm, but will be closed on Christmas Day.
Walmart at Hamburg (2350 Grey Lag Way) will be open until 8 pm Christmas Eve, but will be closed on Christmas Day. Walmart will re-open the day after Christmas at 6 am.
Lexington Public Libraries will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government offices will be closed on Christmas Day, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Day.
Most Lexington area banks will be closing early on Christmas Eve (call ahead), and will be closed on Christmas Day.
POST OFFICES
Post Offices nationwide will be open on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31. Most Lexington Post Offices will shorten retail lobby hours and close at noon on these holiday eves. Regular mail delivery for Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 will be unaffected by the change. Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office. If you are a business customer, please check with your Bulk Mail Entry Unit for specific information regarding holiday hours of operation. Post Offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 1. All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume on Friday, Dec. 26, 2014 and Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. Be sure to deposit your mail into all blue collection boxes by noon on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, regardless of the final collection times posted. This means if the final collection time is already before noon (12 p.m.), there will be no change. However, if the final collection time is normally after noon (12 p.m.), mail may be collected early.
CHRISTMAS TRASH PICKUP IN LEXINGTON
There will be no trash collection on Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25. Those who normally have Thursday trash pickup should put their Herbies out Tuesday evening for Wednesday pickup.
LEXTRAN
All Lextran routes will be running on a reduced Sunday schedule on Christmas Day.
Movie Times for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Movies opening on Christmas Day 2014 include: Wild (in wide release), starring Reese Witherspoon, based on Cheryl Strayed’s memoir of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail; Unbroken, directed by Angelina Jolie; Into the Woods. Cinemark Fayette Mall will remain open normal hours on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Cinemark Woodhill will be open on Christmas Day with regular schedules beginning at noon.
Kentucky Theatre is offering Holiday Christmas Classic Movies on Christmas Eve 2014. White Christmas (1954) will be showing at 1 pm. Holiday Inn (1942) shows at 3:25 pm and It’s a Wonderful Life (1946) shows at 5:30 pm.
Movie Tavern will remain open during normal hours for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Regal Hamburg will remain open regular hours on Christmas Day. However, most of the final showings on Christmas Eve will be prior to 7 pm.
MUSIC on Christmas

TREECYCLE THIS: How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Lexington?
Christmas trees can be recycled with yard waste. Put trees on the curb for normal collection day. Make sure all ornaments and tinsel are removed from the tree. Contact LexCall 3-1-1, or 425-2255 if Christmas Tree is not collected on your normal collection day.
Apartment and businesses should call LexCall for information on Christmas tree pickup.
Fayette County residents can recycle holiday lights and other electronics such as computers, monitors and televisions at the city’s Electronic Recycling Center at 1306 Versailles Road.
